Vanuatu remote islands medical support trip

Sail with a purpose - deliver support where it is needed

UPDATES

What’s the go with the Vanuatu medical support mission?

We’ve had a few questions about our upcoming trip to Vanuatu — and rightly so! Here’s what we’re doing, and how we’re doing it:

Where are we going?

We’re working directly with the Vanuatu Ministry of Health to decide which remote island communities need the most support. They’re helping us shape the mission so we’re adding value, not doubling up on existing services.

What are we doing?

Once we know where we’re headed, our medical team will be delivering basic healthcare and vaccinations to those communities.

Are we working with local health workers and programs?

Absolutely. We’re engaging with local health staff and ensuring what we do supports current programs. This is about collaboration, not coming in over the top.

Are we on the medical register?

We’re making sure our medical volunteers are properly registered in Vanuatu and working through the right channels with the Ministry.

What’s the cost – and who’s paying?

This is a completely self-funded mission. We haven’t taken any grants or donations, and the Vanuatu Government isn’t paying a cent.

Volunteer bookings cover:

·       Medical professionals’ spots onboard

·       Crew and yacht expenses

If we fill all spots, we’ll break even. If we don’t, Blue Water Expeditions will cover the shortfall.

Overview

Join the medical team led by our Expedition Chief Medical Officer - Dr Tim Lightfoot on a transformative journey with Blue Water Expeditions as we set sail on a 14-day medical support expedition to the remote islands of Vanuatu.
